Australia’s Global Centre for Modern Ageing joins the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL)

On 4 September 2019 in Greece, it was announced that the Global Centre for Modern Ageing (GCMA) has been successful in joining the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL), a community of Living Labs that aims at contributing to the creation of a dynamic ecosystem of innovation with a global reach.

ENoLL is the international federation of benchmarked Living Labs. Founded in November 2006, the network is the biggest association of real-life urban test and experimentation environments where users and producers co-create innovations.

The GCMA was admitted as an Adherent Member to the prestigious ENoLL network at the ENoLL General Assembly (GA) which was held during the OpenLivingLab Days on 4 September 2019 in Greece.

Joining the network will allow GCMA to strengthen its relationships with 142 other international Living Labs and establish knowledge exchange networks to foster further learning, increase collaboration opportunities and stimulate new ideas.

GCMA Chief Executive Officer, Ms Julianne Parkinson, who accepted the award at the General Assembly, said “the Global Centre for Modern Ageing is proud to be a part of the ENoLL community and look forward to partnering with our ENoLL colleagues on innovative projects in the future.”

“This recognition from ENoLL provides the GCMA and our LifeLab with many exciting opportunities for global collaboration, as well as the potential for greater impact worldwide,” Ms Parkinson added.

“ENoLL are delighted to welcome GCMA into our network.  Since its’ inception, the GCMA have already been involved in innovative and ground-breaking projects, and we look forward to working with our new Australian partner,” said Zsuzsanna Bodi, ENoLL Association Director.

The GCMA is one of only thirty-three Living Labs in the global network with a focus on ageing and the third Australian Living Lab to be awarded membership.

The GCMA’s LifeLab was officially opened in October 2018 by the Premier of South Australia and has already attracted world-leading projects including the co-design of the Strathalbyn aged care facilities with SA Health and an autonomous vehicle trial in Port Elliot, South Australia with UK company, Aurrigo.
