ZestFest returns in 2019 headlined by media trailblazer Ita Buttrose

ZestFest will this year be headlined by Australian media icon, Ita Buttrose AC, OBE. Powered by COTA SA, this annual festival designed to celebrate, challenge and connect older South Australians will feature more than 200 curated and fringe events held across the state from 14 – 28 October 2019.

Ita Buttrose AC, OBE will give the ZestFest Oration and discuss ‘Ageing with attitude, growing older with zest, and occasionally disgracefully’. The Oration is presented by Enabling Confidence at Home (ECH) and nbn, and will kickstart the two-week Festival on Monday 14 October, 6pm at Adelaide Town Hall.

Festival Director, Jayne Boase, said ZestFest challenged the outdated stereotypes of ageing and presented an opportunity to embrace and own our longer lives. “The festival celebrates longevity and helps unlock the possibilities that modern ageing brings,” she said. “ZestFest helps older South Australians reinvent their own brand of older.

“The festival’s program features everything from dance, visual arts, music and theatre and reflects ageing as a time of freedom, influence and opportunity. We are delighted to have Ita Buttrose speaking at this year’s Oration and trust attendees will find her insights and experiences fascinating.”

Ita Buttrose AC, OBE – a legendary media trailblazer, businesswoman, best-selling author, committed community and welfare contributor and former Australian of the Year – said value and achievements are not limited by age.

“I am pleased to be speaking at this year’s ZestFest Oration to challenge ageist views and help older people believe in themselves and accomplish more,” said Ms Buttrose.

“Australians often overlook older members of the community, based only on preconceived ideas about their age. It is an area I’ve devoted time to addressing and trying to correct.”

This year’s ZestFest features more than 200 events across metropolitan and regional South Australia.

ZestFest 2019 is made possible thanks to sponsors Enabling Confidence at Home (ECH), nbn, AnglicareSA, The Senior, Helping Hand, The Adelaide Review, The Office for Ageing Well, COTA Insurance, Global Centre for Modern Ageing and Australian Gas Networks.
